Aviation Environmental Systems Analyst

ATAC serves clients in both the public and private sectors via its headquarters office in Sunnyvale, California and branch offices in Washington, D.C. and Boston, Massachusetts. Primary clients include the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), service branches of the Department of Defense (DOD), airport authorities, airport planning and engineering firms, and private companies involved with aviation systems development and integration.

The Position

ATAC has an opening for an Aviation Environmental Systems Analyst. This is a full-time position and will be located either at our Sunnyvale, CA headquarters or at our Boston, MA area office. The successful candidate will participate on environmental projects such as Airport Cooperative Research Projects (ACRP), NASA Research Announcements (NRA), and FAA sponsored analyses. In addition, they will participate in applying, developing, and maintaining state-of-the-art environmental (noise and emissions) computer models, including the FAA's Aviation Environmental Design Tool (AEDT).

Responsibilities include:
  • Environmental modeling research projects
  • Airport and airspace noise and emissions analysis studies
  • Environmental prediction algorithm development, assessment and application
  • Technical and management presentations
  • Technical report writing
  • Software development support (primarily in C#)
A background check will be required for this position.

Qualifications

ATAC is looking for career-minded people with the potential to grow professionally and advance into positions of greater technical and project management responsibility.

Required attributes include:
  • An MS degree in aerospace, mechanical, or systems engineering, operations research, applied mathematics or physics or a BS degree with 5+ years of related job experience;
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Familiarity with scientific programming;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal relations skills;
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency.
Highly desired attributes include:
  • Knowledge of physical acoustics and/or aircraft emissions
  • Experience in airport operations and aircraft flight performance
