Aviation Analyst


ATAC has an opening for a full-time, junior to mid-level Aviation Analyst. The successful candidate will work closely with a Senior Aviation Analyst to operate a small Washington D.C. office for the Performance Data Analysis and Reporting System (PDARS), a system for the automatic collection, analysis and reporting of aviation performance measurements. The candidate will also have support from ATAC staff in Sunnyvale to perform advanced technical analysis and metric development for various aviation customers.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Quantitative and qualitative analysis of air traffic performance and operational data
  • Work with clients/users at FAA-HQ and other D.C. area FAA facilities
  • Aviation performance report design/development to support metric development, exploration and analysis
  • Support for briefings and demonstrations

A background check will be required for this position. Regular travel to Sunnyvale may be needed.

Qualifications

ATAC is looking for career-minded people with the potential to grow professionally and advance into positions of greater technical and project management responsibility.

Required are: A Bachelor's degree in the area of operations research, systems engineering, aerospace engineering, mathematics, statistics or related field; ability to conduct engineering and planning analysis; PC applications skills with office tools including Excel, PowerPoint and Word; excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal relations skills; and U.S. citizenship or permanent residency. The candidate must reside in the Washington, DC area or be willing to relocate to that area. PC programming experience (VB, VBA, Perl) is a plus, as is experience with databases (SQL, Oracle/Access) and statistical tools.

In addition, the ideal candidate is a self-starter, able to work independently as well as with a team, willing to start work at 7 am, is open to new ideas, technologies and development methodologies, thinks both logically and creatively, and approaches problems and problem solving with a positive and constructive attitude.
