Data Processing and Analysis Tool Set (DPATS)
Overview
NASA Langley's Air Traffic Operations Laboratory (ATOL) identified the need for rapid data collection and analysis of real and fast time simulation experiments. The requirements for the analysis tool included being able to:
- quickly and efficiently gather, organize, and archive simulation run data existing on multiple platforms;
- assist researchers in quickly summarizing and reviewing simulation runs;
- aid analysts in the understanding of what actually occurred during a simulation run;
- statically and dynamically visualize flight trajectories and events;
- support detailed performance analysis of individual simulation runs;
- support detailed performance analysis and reporting of a complete experiment.
Solution
ATAC was selected to develop and support the application of the Data Processing and Analysis Tool Set (DPATS). DPATS is a group of tools based on a modular framework specifically designed to meet the extensive requirements of the Air Traffic Operations Laboratory. DPATS has been successfully used to analyze the results of three major ATOL experiments over the last 3 years with turn around times as short as a few days between simulation runs and analysis results.
