The Position

ATAC has an opening for a Controller. This is a full-time position located at ATAC headquarters in Santa Clara, CA. The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of all aspects of financial, cost and government accounting; be able to manage, at all levels, the integrity of ATAC’s financial reporting, and to collaborate with ATAC’s executive team on corporate growth and development. A background check is required for this position.
Responsibilities will include:

Strategic and Management
  • Manage the production of periodic financial reporting and maintain an adequate system of supporting accounting records.
  • Maintain and/or update procedures to ensure a comprehensive set of controls and budgets in order to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of ATAC’s reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Manage the cash accounts, recognizing and tracking accounts receivable and making sure that accounts payables are properly processed.
  • Process the invoicing functions, which include multi-year projects with the Government and commercial customers.
  • Maintain a cost accounting system to properly track expenses by project. Defend costs that have been billed to customers.
  • Support Project Management staff through production of periodic Financial Management Reports
  • Reconcile all Balance Sheet accounts for each accounting period and year end.
  • Prepare year end schedules for the external review by ATAC’s CPA firm.
  • Develop and implement management and financial controls over financial systems and supporting infrastructure
  • Oversee the government burden rate development and work with the CFO and financial analyst on any changes in the rate structure that may become necessary because of future contractual or internal requirements.
  • Manage and develop the small support staff with help from a part-time experienced financial analyst/accountant.
  • Oversee production of 1099s and the timely payment of quarterly, federal and state tax estimates.
  • Prepare annual property tax returns.
  • Interface with government auditors including DCAA and IRS as required.
  • Assist in the development of current fiscal year and long-term budget projections and forward rates. Manage indirect rates to achieve company financial objectives.
  • Work with the program management teams to ensure earned value measurement system (EVMS) compliance, as necessary
  • Calculate revenue recognition for T&M projects, FFP projects and software sales.

Qualifications and Demonstrated Experience

ATAC is looking for a proven professional to be a key member of ATAC’s senior management team, including:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 15 years of experience in financial leadership roles to include at least 10 years as a senior accountant, preferably for a Federal Government services company with revenue of $20M - $50M or greater
  • Familiarity with FAA AMS, FAR, and DFARS, including FAR Part 31 and CAS.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP including experience with licensing and protection of IP
  • Understanding of contract design and structure to include: FFP; T&M, CP; IDIQ and competitive and sole source procurements
  • Strong familiarity with UNANET or similar timecard and accounting system
  • Essential interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage well at all levels throughout multiple locations
  • Well-organized, self-directed, and team-oriented, energetic, forward-thinking and creative individual with high ethical standards
  • Strong commitment to developing team members and U.S. Citizenship required
